This page is more for the Hameln anime-lovers and collectors, than Hameln manga-addicts. Therefor you ask youself, "Where can I get the anime of Hameln?" Well... Here is what I can provide you with some information, but first you should know something about the anime.
The anime Movie came out before the anime TV-series, and isn't a part of the manga itself but can be an own movement in it. It fits around after volume 11.
The anime TV-series is based on the manga, but the humor-part have been all ripped out. This making the anime very dark and serious. It had a very tight budget. I can't think of anything else that had this little money to have something to produce. This the creators had to resort to making the more "slide shows" letting the seiyuu's making all the "action/feeling" to carry it on. My own opinion is that they succeded, but I didn't read the manga first so... And a lot differs in the anime than the manga. I'm thinking of making a manga to anime comparision later on. At episode 25 when the anime ends (around vol 10 of the manga), it ends with a completly made up ending. But who can blame them really on that budget... I still love the TV-series.
Why did I begin with one that only has the first eight episodes? Well, plainly because it got better translation than the 3NA one (read alternative 2), and better video-quality too. But it's nothing wrong with 3NA's translation other than Obo is spelled wrong. To get to the point, you can get episode 1-8 at The Anime Instrumentality Project, which still is fansubbing Hameln to date.
pruster.com which host the torrents for animesuki.com. Here you can get all the episodes of the TV-series, the Movie and the openings. These episodes was fansubbed by a group called 3NA and then encoded by MasterDark for #animeMedia @ EFNet, which now seems to have disolved.
But if that doesn't work? Well, there is also BoxTorrents that have a complete torrent for all episodes and the movie. But you have to register first at their site. (Search with "violinist")A new bodly fansub-group that began subtitling Hameln. They came from nowhere and disappeared almoast as quickly. But as of now (2005-10-11) they are back again continuing subbing VoH! Their tracker is located at scarywater, where you get their torrents.
Go and buy the Hong-Kong DVD-bootleg with engrish subtitles and wrong names. You probally know the drill... Sadly Hameln probally won't ever be license, or so I would guess...
At CD Japan you can buy all the DVDs and some of the CDs. Remember, these DVDs are Region 2 and don't carry subtitles.
